What to Expect in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Whether you're experiencing pelvic floor symptoms, recovering from childbirth, or simply want to feel strong and confident in your body again — you're in the right place. At Steph Lyons Physio, I offer compassionate, expert care tailored to your needs.

Before Your First Appointment

After booking your appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details you need. This includes:

- An overview of your appointment and what to expect

- Directions and access information for the clinic

- Information about clinic facilities

- A link to complete your patient intake form online

- A PDF attachment titled “New Patient Information Pack”

Your next steps at this point will be to complete the patient intake form and read through the New Patient Information Pack to help you feel confident and prepared for your first appointment.

Your First Appointment

Your initial session is 60 minutes and includes:

- A full discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and goals

- A question-based assessment to understand your pelvic health concerns

- A detailed explanation of the pelvic floor and discussion about internal assessment (only if appropriate and with your full consent)

- A collaborative treatment plan based on your needs

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on, what you can do about it, and what support is available.

Follow-Up Appointments

Follow-up sessions (typically 45 minutes) may include:

- Optional internal pelvic floor examination (with your full consent and only if appropriate)

- Global body movement assessment

- Hands-on treatment

- Exercise progression or movement rehab

- Nervous system regulation strategies

- Lifestyle, bladder, or bowel education

- Ongoing goal setting and accountability

You’ll always know what we’re working on and why.

What to Wear & Bring

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in (leggings/shorts are ideal). Bring any relevant scans or referral letters, but they’re not required.

Bringing your own water bottle is recommended. Tap water is available at the clinic if needed.

Location & Availability

Appointments take place in a calm, private clinic space at The Treatment Room, Oxley Sports Centre. I currently offer appointments on Mondays & Wednesdays.

If you're concerned about the cost of treatment, I offer reduced rate pay-as-you-go appointments, discounted physiotherapy packages, and payment plans on package bookings. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to explore these options confidentially.

Nervous? You’re Not Alone

Pelvic health is deeply personal. Many clients feel nervous at first — that’s completely normal. Everything I do is based on consent, choice, and working at your pace. You will be heard, supported, and never rushed.
